Myanmar : KyaiKtiyo Pagoda

Kyaiktiyo Pagoda mean golden rock in Myanmar, 1200 meters above sea level. Kyaiktiyo Pagoda is 5 meters tall, it built on top of a rock and the rock is on top of a cliff that looks like it going to fall any time. Myanmar people believes that it will never fall of, because of the hair in side of it that making this rock stabilize.

     The traditions said that Kyaiktiyo Pagoda is for people that are born in the year of dog. Legends said that a monk got the holy hair from Buddha so that people can worship the hair. But there’s a lot more people who get the holy hair from Buddha and all of them got the holy hair in to pagoda so everyone can worship it. But the monk doesn’t put it in the pagoda, He hide it in his hair, and when he’s about to die, He wants to the holy hair inside a rock that look similar to his head shape. Now it’s 1 of 5 things that Myanmar people worship.

     The way that you will get up, you will get in truck. The way that get you up is very narrow so they communicate to each other before anyone can get up. When you get up there you will met with  a lot of beggar and Seller, They will try their hardest to get you to buy their stuff, Including raincoat, Toys and many more (and all the stuff up there is very cheap).

     When you get up there you can’t were any shoes, Myanmar people believe that not wearing any shoes give respect to Buddhism. When I got up there, the rain start coming down everything was very fogy I couldn’t see anything if It were 50-100 meters away, My experience was definitely not the best I could have had. The hotel are not best up there, The electricity are very unstable and there‘s no internet up there. Every morning the monk come up to receive food from everyone who want to donate to them.

     Kyaiktiyo Pagoda is 1 of the 5 places that you should visit at Myanmar. If you have the chance I definitely recommend you to go visit it
